Periodontal treatment

Periodontics is a highly specialised field addressing gum needs.

Periodontal Treatment

The simplest treatment is prevention, and that's what the team here at Cambridge sepcialists focuses on. Dental hygiene begins with an assessment and evaluation of periodontal tissue (gums) by your general dentist. If he feels it is a complex problem, he will ask you to see a specialised periodontist. Either your general dentist or your periodontist will then assess your periodontal condition and tell you what steps are needed to restore your gums to health. This may include the removal of tartar, plaque and discoloration, as well as the use of agents to prevent tooth decay. Generally, this can be done by our team of dental hygienists. This treatment also includes home care specifically tailored to the individual patient. If you are undergoing dental or cosmetic treatment, a revised home care routine will be created for you and monitored throughout the course of treatment to ensure the best possible outcome.

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal maintenance refers to a procedure carried out to clean your teeth thoroughly. Maintenance is crucial as it prevents the periodontal disease from spreading. Bacteria produced by plaque may colonize on the gum tissue resulting in gingivitis and periodontal disease.

Implant Maintenance

A typical maintenance visit for patients with dental implants should last 1 hour and occur every 3 months to assess any changes in oral and general history. It is important to choose the correct instruments to avoid damage to the implant surface and injury to the peri-implant tissues.

Professional Hygiene and Ongoing Maintenance

Regular hygiene appointments with a dental specialist and optimal home care will ensure continued care of your teeth and gums. If you need further periodontal treatment, we offer you the services of our resident specialists in periodontology (gum specialists) Dr Julio Rincon.
